On the newly renovated Aviv Beach and on the seafront, a beautiful new building stands. Get to know the urban water sports complex and the acoustic super product that has managed to meet environmental challenges.
Clean lines, huge windows
The water sports complex is a two-level building in a geometric and modern style. The lines are clean and straight, the glass facades are wide and bring plenty of natural light into the rectangular space. Through the windows, a panoramic view of the sea is visible, which is as close as touching distance.
Only three materials were chosen for the structure: glass, exposed concrete, and steel in monochromatic tones. The materials created a simple design scheme that integrates well with the appearance of the existing promenade. Above the complex, a thin white steel pergola floats, detached from the structure and functioning independently as a “thatch” that provides generous shading that is so needed in the area.
Climatic and acoustic challenges
The proximity to the sea creates difficult climatic conditions: salinity rising from sea vapor, humidity, wetness, and the heat of the scorching sun. The complex attracts young people and with them various noises – exchanges of shouts between games in the mats, the guide’s instructions to groups of novice surfers, music from entertainment brought by those staying on the beach, and more.
AUTEX Polyester (PET) TilesAutex Tiles
Autex tiles in the Hecht&Efraim marketing that were incorporated into the reception area and the passageway provided excellent sound absorption. The tiles are made of polyester which is highly resistant to moisture, salt in the air and the challenging natural conditions due to the proximity to the sea.
Autex Tiles (PET)The tiles, made of 80% recycled polyester, fit the ecological concept of utilizing existing resources, similar to the installation of solar panels above the pergola to maximize sunlight and reduce energy use for electricity. As part of the geometric style of the building and the color palette chosen for the project, the tiles were assembled and hung as adjacent white cubes, with the lighting fixtures and ventilation openings at their center.
