Beit Midrash Migdal Or – Designed by Avital Gal
Beit Midrash Migdal Or is a space with a long tradition, where learning, concentration and community are at the heart of daily activities. In the renovation and redesign process, great thought was invested in creating a contemporary and pleasant environment, without harming the character of the place and the values it represents. The design combines the preservation of the traditional language with advanced material and technological solutions, with the understanding that a quality beit midrash needs a precise balance between acoustic silence, respectful visibility and an optimal user experience.
Beneath the women’s shelter, and throughout the entire beit midrash, custom-made acoustic PET tiles from ECOPET were selected, in a semi-recessed application on a standard ceiling construction.
The design combined custom-made grooved tiles in the shape of Stars of David – a symbolic element that connects contemporary design with deep roots – with smooth, semi-recessed and ungrooved tiles. The combination of them creates a subtle rhythm in the ceiling, visual depth and subdued texture, while maintaining a dignified and clean appearance.
The choice of PET by ECOPET was due to acoustic, functional and environmental considerations:
The acoustic polyester tiles are made from recycled PET fibers and constitute an innovative cladding solution that allows complete design freedom, from a smooth and minimalist look to custom decorative details.
System advantages:
High acoustic performance – significant improvement in sound quality and noise reduction, up to N.R.C 0.9
Full design flexibility – a variety of colors, thicknesses and cutting models depending on the nature of the space
Simple and quick application – compatibility with standard ceiling construction without the need for complex construction
Eco-friendly material – made from recycled fibers, free of harmful substances
High durability – does not fade, does not crumble and is resistant to moisture
The result is an acoustic PET ceiling that combines silence, visibility and symbolism – a solution that respects tradition, improves the learning experience and gives the beit midrash a contemporary, precise and long-lasting envelope.
