Let’s open it up:
Open cell ceilings and what to do with them.
Open cell ceilings are an affordable and convenient solution for architects – and not only. Keep reading and discover the design aspects of this ceiling family.
Why choose open-look ceilings?
Before we dive into the world of design, it’s worth talking a little about “behind the scenes” and the reasons that make the ceilings a leading choice among architects and designers.
The metal ceilings produced by Hecht Ephraim are considered to be particularly durable ceilings, thanks to the company’s meticulous attention to every link in the production chain. Metal ceilings have a significant presence in various projects due to the fact that you can count on their immunity over a long period of time, and their ability to remain beautiful and meticulous just like the day we received the key to the project.
The ceilings are also an affordable and convenient solution, especially when it comes to installing them in commercial sites. For open cell ceilings, “Linear Grid LG” are free-standing beam ceilings with a modern and unique design, assembled using a dedicated upper profile and connected using a particularly durable spring. This assembly allows the “disconnection” of the tile to the lower part of the profile in order to reach the systems above whenever the need arises. In this way, we avoid lowering the tile to the floor and risking damaging it, together with the precise production and design of the tile by Hecht & Ephraim, a system is possible that remains in the same condition and unique appearance without damage even after many years of use.
“Clean canvas” for color and lighting games
And now let’s talk a little about design. Hecht & Ephraim’s “Linear Grid LG” open cell-style ceilings embody countless possibilities for space design, especially when we are given the opportunity to decide on the dimensions and sizes, and the spaces that will be between each beam. A slight change in the beam dimensions or installing them lengthwise rather than widthwise is enough to create ceilings with a slightly different look.
The minimal style of the ceilings also makes them a kind of clean “canvas” for arranging the lighting. We can cover the ceiling of the restaurant at the edge of the skyscraper with random clusters of square lighting fixtures that hang like stars in the sky. Using the same method, we can also integrate elongated lighting fixtures arranged in straight, sculpted rows into the narrow passage between the office and the conference room.
And what about color? The choice of color provides us with another way to make the ceiling interesting. Although white is the most common color in most projects, ceilings are also available in a variety of RAL colors and even in various types of wood textures. By choosing more than one color, we can create an interesting contrast between different parts of the ceilings and create a kind of “action” that would be very suitable for car showrooms and sports stores. On the other hand, if we want to go for the conservative and restrained look of accounting offices and similar businesses, we can combine “touches” of wood with a white ceiling to make the reception space inviting and pleasant.
