The endless design possibilities using lamellas.
Designed slatted ceilings effectively control any acoustic challenge, and serve as an affordable and convenient solution for architects. Read on to find out why.
What “makes them work”?
Slatted ceilings are composed of baffles, which are essentially thin fins made of various materials including wood, felt or metal. The baffles work to regulate sound reflection so that even the most active spaces maintain adequate acoustic levels. Hecht&Aferim’s slatted ceilings, made of metal and manufactured in the local factory, provide additional benefits such as high resistance to abrasion and moisture and allow for a wide variety of design and color options to suit each space.
Wood-tone laminate”Breaking up” the monotony
Arranging the slats in different shapes “breaks up” the monotonous appearance of traditional ceiling tiles. The shape and manner of hanging the fins affect the movement in the space, the impression and memory of people from the space, in a creative and enjoyable way.
For example, vertical and open ceiling systems that are hung on a cross profile are common in public projects, offices and commercial buildings. The hanging method leaves the ceiling exposed, thus allowing direct access in cases where maintenance or repairs are required.
In such ceilings, it is crucial to choose the dimensions of the slats and the spaces between them, which together will form a unique pattern or rhythm. Complex or calm, fragmented or uniform rhythms can be created, in a way that suits the chosen design concept.
The arrangement of the perforations in the slats, which are responsible for the dispersion of sound reflection, can also be chosen and designed. Perforations in different shapes and at different intervals create a variable “print” that can be changed according to the design concept.
For words of different widthsEffects galore
The choice of color for the slatted ceiling creates a varying visual effect: a ceiling painted in dark or black tones will add an elegant and powerful dimension to industrial buildings such as hangars, or to office spaces that want to add a little “roughness” to the workspace. On the other hand, slats in light colors ranging from white to beige to light gray will blend harmoniously in spaces with a more solid atmosphere such as hospital corridors and waiting rooms.
The metal slats of Hecht&Afrim are also available in a wood look. This type of slats, printed with a laser, imitate the natural texture with the utmost precision – in which every groove, fiber and crack is emphasized. These acoustic slats are made of metal and are highly resistant to abrasion, so they can be integrated into dynamic spaces and bring the familiar warmth to various commercial spaces – from car showrooms to hotel lobbies.
Wood-look slats perfectly fulfill their decorative role as a warm and organic material. They blend in wonderfully with other finishing materials and diverse lighting solutions such as spotlights, backlighting or overhead lighting.
These acoustic slats allow you to create interesting encounters between materials and add “layers” of style – without harming the acoustics of the space. For example, you can combine wood-look acoustic ceilings in waiting rooms with light walls and get an airy and elegant look that suits the solid nature of the place. Another way would be to combine slats with industrial raw materials, such as polished concrete walls, and get a look that is suitable for offices with an open character (open space).
