“MERKAZA” is a shopping center in the Galilee region that rises to two spacious floors filled with everything – food complexes, shopping and attractions. The main goal in the design and planning of the space was to create a modern and pleasant shopping experience that will invite visitors to come back and visit again.
Above each booth were hung “Frontier” tiles from Otex. The tiles were chosen in a wavy design and placed vertically above the noise sources to absorb the reverberation. The choice of Frontier tiles also stemmed from health considerations. The tiles are made of recycled polyester that does not emit toxic substances and are therefore safe to use even above shoppers waiting in line. The ease of installation and the fact that they do not “block” access to the ceiling make Frontier tiles a suitable choice for the acoustic, practical and design needs of the area.
Restaurant Complex
The restaurant area is the heart of the action at the venue. Here you can go through a “world-embracing” journey of flavors.
Restaurants with local cuisine alongside international restaurants offering Italian, Mexican and Asian cuisine and even a European-style cafe.
In the cafe area, a grooved “Nordco” wood wool ceiling with a winding pattern was chosen, custom-made by Hecht&Afrim. The grooved twists throughout the ceiling area contrast with the straight lighting fixtures and together with them create an ornate, rich and luxurious look.
Nordco Grooved TilesIn an adjacent area, another wooden ceiling was chosen in the production of black Hecht&Afrim. The change in color contributed to a clear visual division of the restaurants into areas, replacing the use of physical partitions and maintaining an open, pleasant and spacious space.
Finally, in the meat restaurant area, a 15 cm high perforated metal slat ceiling was chosen for the acoustic task, incorporating acoustic fleece made by Hecht & Ephraim. The wood-like slats blended with the brown upholstery of the chairs and the other wood tones in the space, creating a luxurious and stylish “premium” atmosphere suitable for a quality meat experience. The choice of a metal slat ceiling answered the need for a durable and easy-to-maintain ceiling that would also maintain its beauty for years to come and provide a complete acoustic solution for a large space.
