Two acoustic innovations that have recently entered the educational environment
1. Back to nature –
The design approach that is slowly creeping into the Israeli education system is about merging the outdoors and nature with the indoors. In this approach, floor-to-ceiling windows, abundant daylight, and the brilliance of vegetation and greenery are brilliant means of improving the learning experience. Designers who have already caught up with the biophilic trend treat nature as an “asset” that must be embraced – if they want to take the design within the walls of the school one step further.
But if we take the idea down to practical application, we will discover that creating an acoustic and pastoral space within the crowded city is quite a complex task. In addition, the cladding that we will need to use must meet high requirements that will ensure that it is safe to use, especially in an active children’s environment.
Polyester ceilingsBring in the colors of the dunes and the patterns of the branches
One of the materials that meets both the need for safety and the need for design flexibility is AUTEX cladding made of recycled polyester. The cladding, which is produced in a nice selection of shades, allows you to convincingly imitate the colors found in nature and introduce in the blink of an eye the colors of the sand dunes, the green tones of the forests or the blue tones of the sky. Although the cladding comes as uniform panels, it can be engraved using CNC and create fascinating patterns taken from the outside world – among them the “branch” lattices that appear in the picture. One of the interesting moves that can be done with the grooved tiles is to incorporate artificial vegetation into them, which immediately adds the necessary greenery to the space.
Metal Baffle CeilingDURLUM metal ceilings are another great solution,
since most ceiling models can be ordered as detailed printed “wood tiles”, from rich Burmese teak to paler oak. Since the ceilings are particularly durable, their use can be extended to areas where incorporating “wood” is a challenge, such as school locker rooms or courtyard exits.
While we previously saw how DURLUM metal ceilings fit into the solid natural trend, here the ceilings bring the colorful message in full force.
Create a “block” of color that will fill the gym or cafeteria with a neon hue, or choose tiles in several different colors and create a ceiling for the library that is a complete game in itself.
The Autex and Durlum family of coverings are both imported by Hecht&Efraim and meet all the strictest standards.
