For about a decade, Hecht&Afrim has been working in the field of ceilings and walls with Expanded meshes made of steel, aluminum and stainless steel, which are well-known in the field of exterior and interior construction of buildings. The mesh is produced by perforating a metal sheet and stretching it, so that diamond-shaped openings of four dimensions are created in it: the diagonal of the diamond, the thickness of the metal and the width of the edge of the diamond. The Expanded mesh has a very high endurance that requires unique cutting and reinforcement, depending on the type and model of the system.
The meshes visually blur the presence of the systems above them and create an industrial look. They can be used to produce ceiling or wall filling units in various configurations of placement, hanging and welding: outside the perimeter frame, inside it or when it is adjacent to a perimeter frame that carries it and reveals a minimum thickness of 2 mm from the frame, which gives a continuous appearance to the ceiling or the entire wall.
The grids are also bidirectional, so that when you look at the ceiling from different directions or alternatively place the filling units in a different direction, you get a different appearance and color.
It is also possible to produce arched grids as units that hang independently like a cloud in space and not necessarily as a filling for a discharge layer (prosthetic). Hecht&Afrim manufactures the grids in five unique models of fillings and trays and accompanies the production by issuing work plans and typical details according to the designer’s requirements.
Using its production facilities, knowledge and experience, Hecht&Afrim produces panels that are fixed to the wall, and the filling materials, such as glass wool or acoustic polyester, are placed on the mesh and serve as a noise-absorbing material. The finishes are varied and range from RAL colors and anodized coating to other sophisticated coatings that give the appearance of rusty oxidized metals, Corten, brass and copper.
