AUTEX materials are changing the way we think about design and acoustics
In a world where interior design is measured not only by beauty, but also by the feeling it creates, New Zealand company AUTEX is once again pushing the boundaries of architecture.
With the launch of two new collections, Mirage and Groove Duet, it proves that acoustic design can be not only functional, but also experiential, sensory and inspiring. AUTEX’s vision is simple but profound: to transform spaces into experiences. The new collections not only absorb noise and improve acoustic comfort, but also create a sensory experience.
When Acoustics Touch the Senses
AUTEX is synonymous with quality, sustainability and innovation. For more than five decades, it has been developing recycled polyester (PET)-based acoustic materials that are integrated into countless projects around the world – from office towers in New York to high-tech companies in Israel.
The company continues to set the global standard with two new collections, Mirage and Groove Duet, which embody a completely new design approach, acoustics that tell a story of texture, light and sensation. The acoustic material is undergoing an evolution: from a functional product to an architectural sculpture.
Mirage Textural tiles that redefine the surface
At first glance, Mirage looks like a piece of wall art. Only at a second glance do you discover that it is actually a sophisticated acoustic tile, designed to create both a visual and sensory experience.
The tiles are made from at least 80% recycled plastic (PET) and come in a variety of six different models, each of which creates a different, subtle yet rich texture, inspired by the movement of water, rock layers or gusts of wind across sand.
Groove Duet Depth, movement, and clever shading in a two-tone design
If Mirage speaks a language of texture and sensuality, Groove Duet is the graphic and precise side of that language.
This is an innovative collection of grooved acoustic panels, in which two shades from the same color palette or contrasting shades combine to create a fascinating play of light and shadow.
The new collection includes 12 different models of two-tone grooves with a combination of two colors from the same palette or in bold contrast.
The precise cuts create a rich play of light and shadow that gives a new dimension to walls and ceilings.
Using precise slotting technology, AUTEX designers manage to give each panel a sense of depth and sophistication – a kind of visual “rhythm” that changes with the lighting and angle.
The material itself, as always with AUTEX, is made of recycled PET, durable, easy to maintain and easy to clean.
Its acoustic absorption level is extremely high, up to NRC 0.8, and it meets the most stringent fire standards (Class A).
Many designers already recognize it as an extremely flexible design tool, one that allows for the creation of living, dynamic walls that tell a story through grooves, light, and shadow.
The ability to combine different shades in the same palette creates a sense of depth and warmth, without sacrificing a clean, minimalist line.
Sustainable design: not a slogan, but a guideline
In recent years, it seems that every manufacturer declares sustainability, but at AUTEX this is not a marketing slogan or trend, but an entire production philosophy and part of the industrial DNA.
Each of the company’s products begins with the question: How can we produce less waste, consume less energy, and create a material that returns real value to the environment?
The company uses only recycled plastic, processes it into durable and beautiful surfaces, and uses clean processes without pollutant emissions.
All AUTEX products carry international environmental labels, and are manufactured in factories certified to the ISO 14001 standard. Its solutions not only improve the quality of life in spaces, they also contribute to the environment.
They do not constitute a habitat for dust mites or mold – so they are perfect for spaces with daily movement of people: offices, commercial spaces or public institutions.
The tiles, produced in modular sizes, can also be installed using SpinFix™ – a glue-free acoustic suspension system made from recycled PET.
Autex’s SpinFix is a game-changer in the recycling, sustainability and ease of installation of acoustic panels. It is an innovative suspension system based on clips made from RePET – a recycled material from the by-products of acoustic panel production – without the need for glue or pollutants.
Beyond design, there is also a deep environmental commitment: the tiles are produced in an environmentally friendly process, comply with the ISO 14001 standard, hold an Embodied Carbon Declaration, and do not emit volatile organic compounds (VOC).
The result is a material that manages to combine three worlds: sustainability, performance, and aesthetics without compromising on any of them.
In Israel, AUTEX products are integrated into a series of innovative projects in offices, educational institutions, high-tech companies, and public spaces, all exclusively imported by Hecht Efraim.
Hecht Efraim, which leads the field of cladding and ceilings in Israel, sees the collaboration with New Zealand’s AUTEX as much more than an import – it is a partnership that promotes smart, green, and modern design. We believe that materials like Mirage and Groove Duet are changing the way designers think about space, they enable the creation of a complete architectural experience, both visually and acoustically, and in terms of environmental impact.
What’s next?
The future of acoustic design is here and it touches all the senses.
AUTEX’s Mirage and Groove Duet redefine the boundaries of what is possible between art, technology and sustainability, reminding us that when it comes to design, sometimes the material is not just what you see, but also what you feel.
