On acoustic cladding that has become a master of camouflage
Purim is upon us and with it the opportunity to turn the spotlight towards other places where inspiration may be hidden. The “crevices” drawn in the wood-like cladding and the “veins” branching in the marble hold a secret,

Cube – Marble finishLooks like wood, doesn’t act like wood
Wood as a texture is a whole world of sensations that range from wild to domesticated, and it is also the leading choice for interior cladding today. From aged oak to light birch and blackened walnut, there is a certain authenticity that can only be achieved by incorporating wood into interior design.
The popularity of the wood look has led Autex, a company specializing in the production of acoustic cladding from recycled polyester (PET), to launch a series of claddings printed with a high level of precision of every detail, crevice and fiber. The claddings look exactly like the real thing, allowing you to bring the warm and earthy feeling into the space and do not require any trees to be cut down along the way.
With the Timber series, you can design spaces, ceilings and interior walls in relaxed office spaces filled with greenery, or as extensive and dominant wall sections in lounges and waiting rooms. The advantage of polyester cladding is the ease and immediacy with which it can be installed in any space. The material is lightweight, easy to install, and allows you to create the look of wood for all intents and purposes.

Timber tilesEnjoy the best of both worlds
One of the powerful tools available to the designer is the ability to choose a material that both meets the design goal and “works” well with the surface conditions. It is precisely at this point, of maximizing the best of both worlds, that Autex’s other printed players come in, including concrete-like and marble-like acoustic cladding.
Historically, marble has always been a preferred cladding material for the walls of luxurious places and important buildings such as temples and palaces, and the elegance that characterizes it takes pride of place even today. Autex’s cladding in the various marble patterns offers a detailed picture of the small details, of the random “vein” branches and color transitions.
Unlike the real material, the polyester cladding is lightweight, not fragile and relatively inexpensive. With it, we will design the fireplace wall, create interesting visual points of interest in entrances and cover arched ceilings.
Even in the concrete-like texture, you can notice the subtleties of the details, the density of the “grains” and the subtle abrasions. And the cladding perfectly imitates the original material and the industrialized look, combined with the advantages of polyester. The material is not prone to cracking, and can be applied to various constructions, including plaster walls.
If you can think of it, you can probably print it
The next acoustic solution is also a great medium for creative expression. The metal ceilings manufactured by Hecht&Afrim allow for complete control over the design of the metal tiles: they can be manufactured in different sizes, painted and printed, engraved and turn the ceiling into an original element that will carry the design concept like a flag.
The ceiling design in the PLAY hotel project in Tel Aviv illustrates this well. The creative team that guided the design of the project strove to create a sense of endless play and to maximize the enjoyment of staying there. Various mind games were scattered throughout the hotel, including a “bulk” game that was incorporated into the ceiling of the bar restaurant. The ceiling, which was made to order, was composed of metal tiles cut into squares, and English letters were engraved into them using CNC cutting. When the tiles were installed together, the ceiling instantly became a fascinating and interactive element that emphasized the playful and witty atmosphere of the place.
