Here it is permissible to judge – what makes the exterior of a building stand out?

The exterior design of commercial buildings is beginning to diversify, with more and more new buildings putting their own personal stamp on the design with color, texture, pattern, and style. We have compiled for you two types of cladding that may bring a great deal of originality to your upcoming project:

Make the building a street landmark

While interior workplace environments are constantly evolving, the part of a building that seems “static” and unchanging is the building envelope, including the facades and exterior walls. Hence, a building design not only needs to be durable and practical, but also visually appealing.

With a range of styles, from postmodern to colonial, any design choice will provide a strong visual representation, especially when we are talking about a large scale like a building. The exterior design of a commercial space provides a glimpse into the business activity taking place inside, and when done with real creativity, the building becomes a kind of street landmark. So what options are available to us?

ALUSION claddingOne option: ALUSION cladding

Alusion is a series of tiles made from a layer of foamed aluminum in a method that gives them a very unique look. The metallic sheen and bubble texture give it a dramatic presence and make the cladding one of a kind – especially when it comes to cladding an entire exterior structure. Alusion has several models that are mainly influenced by the size and density of the bubbles: a large and dense pattern with a “spongy” look, a medium-sized pattern with a wavy and curved pattern and a pattern of small, distant bubbles.

The models come in a natural aluminum shade in addition to a variety of colors, ranging all the way from artificial bazooka pink to a shiny rust color, which leaves the designer with the ability to make complex decisions when it comes to color. The wide variety allows you to match the colors of the shell to cues taken from the local landscape, or to choose unconventional, intense and striking colors that a visitor is unlikely to encounter while wandering the street.

The combination of the density and size of the bubbles and the choice of one or more colors creates surfaces with different characteristics. For example, in the Prada Art Museum building in Spain, Illusion was used in a pattern of large bubbles in a silver hue that struck the elegant and eye-catching style of the building. In another case, such as the conference building on the beach on the island of Palma, Illusion coverings were combined in a pattern of closed, dense bubbles that matched the texture of the granular sand.
